Costa Rica News – The time it takes most people in Costa Rica’s Greater Metropolitan Area to get to and from work is simply insane.
The municipalities are finally stepping up to improve the traffic congestion.
The Ministry of Housing had done a study that showed city residents lose 15 days a year stuck in traffic jams going from home to work or school.
There are 1,399,238 vehicles circulating in the country.
Since April, a group of mayors have been working on solutions to the traffic problems. They will present a strategy of citywide road improvements. Cantons plan to work together to better urban mobility.
Some highlights of the plan include 23 quick fixes to the most troublesome areas as well as changing garbage collection times to not coincide with rush hour.
Another part of the plan is to have bus bays.
