A new academy, unlike any other in Costa Rica, is opening on April 5th in Barrio Escalante, San Jose. This magic academy is specifically for those who have a love for or want to learn magic.
The founder, Alejandro Navas, explains that they don’t teach tricks, rather they teach techniques meant to stimulate magical thought. The courses include history of magic and magicians and pseudo-scientific creations.
The magician title can be earned in two years, after completing three eight-month modules. This is serious. The classes meet twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Anyone over the age of 14 years who has ¢50,000 colones per month can enroll.
Navas has help teaching the classes, as there are three other professionals involved. It’s a great opportunity to meet other fans of the art of magic and/or better your skills.
