Costa Rica News – Traffic Police have taken an extreme measure, seizing a car from the La Paz park area on Thursday night simply for being an Uber car.
ARESEP punishes those who illegally transport people for money.
There are penalties for up to ¢2,100,000 for those who provide illegal shuttle services. Until Thursday Uber was allowed to freely operate in the country despite many protests.
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport says it is illegal but nothing had been enforced until this date.
The company has provided legal support to the driver affected. His name is Harold Leandro.
The man had previously been so happy to find this opportunity to help his financial problems and his neighbors at the same time.
The legal team is asking that Harold’s license no longer be suspended and that his car be returned to him.
