Many Costa Ricans are waiting on Sunday, in hopes that their lives will be forever changed by becoming a millionaire. The chances of winning are about 1 in 100,000 for each card purchased.
The School of Mathematics of Costa Rica analyzed the general understanding of the public regarding concepts of statistical probabilities. Many seem to be more superstitious than mathematical in their approach and understanding.
According to mathematical laws, any number is just as likely as any other to be chosen. Many people try to get low numbers but it is a misunderstanding that low numbers are more probable.
The experts also stress that the number chosen last year has no effect on the number that will be chosen this year.
If you want to increase the likelihood of winning chose various cards with different serial numbers but if you prefer to go for the biggest prize chose cards that all have the same serial numbers.
