Costa Rica News – When anything like this happens it makes you take a step back and think about things. There is a strong suspicion of foul play.
Sondra Lynn Elizondo, 45, was also the mother of two, the organization said in a post to its Facebook page. The woman lived in Merritt Island, Florida and had arrived in Costa Rica on Saturday for meetings as part of her duties with the aid organization.
“Sondra was a devoted mother, loyal friend and caring daughter. She was a great inspiration and always passionate about helping others and making a positive difference. Vida Volunteer is the legacy Sondra leaves behind and we are more committed than ever to keeping her dream alive,” the organization said on Facebook.
The American woman, arriving in Costa Rica last week, was found murdered in her hotel room in barrio La California, on the east side of San Jose. Authorities say she was killed by someone she trusted.
According to Michael Soto, head of the Departamento de Planes y Operaciones of the OIJ, the investigation so far points to her companion as the prime suspect.
“We are trying at this point to identify the man who accompanied her at the hotel, sharing food and drinks in the room,” said Soto.
Police say there was no forced entry to the hotel room where the woman, believed to be 45 years of age, identified by her last name Lynn, was staying.
The woman was found in a pool of blood by hotel staff at the Casa 69 on Wednesday afternoon, lying on the bed with multiple stab wounds.
