Costa Rica News – Costa Rica has a National Digital Strategy, who knew?
The Government is actually planning to provide free public Internet sites across the country over the next year or so, between 2016-17.
This strategy covers 240 communities. It will involve an investment of $167 million, according to the vice minister of Telecommunications, in a speech he made Sunday on national TV.
Additionally, CR Digital will invest $300 million to aid in keeping the promise for this digital service to be provided to community centers, schools, ebais, parks and places people go for public services.
The plan also calls for subsidized Internet to households living in poverty, in order to equip those with disabilities, elderly, young children, female heads of households, and the indigenous population.
The plan has a deadline of 2018.
