Costa Rica News – The situation in the Caribbean is pretty extreme. Continued rains are expected and the whole province is under a yellow alert.
Severe storms may develop throughout July and August, leading to further flooding and landslides.
This forecast is due to the warming of the Pacific Ocean and cooling in the Atlantic.
This started in May and has become the second most intense such occurrence experienced in the last 30 years.
The Ministry of Public Works and Transportation explained that it has no choice but to close routes and divert traffic to safer areas, especially when removing the disaster left behind after a landslide.
If you must travel in the area be aware that many roads are closed and the downpours and landslides are expected to worsen.
There are traffic police in place even along alternative routes in case problems arise there as well.
