Business tourism is on the rise as well, with many hotels offering meeting rooms and hotel rooms set up to work with a desk, phone and internet.
2014 was a record year for Costa Rican tourism. All of the historical records have been exceeded, according to a statement issued by the Costa Rican Tourism Board (Instituto Costarricense de Turismo, ICT).
During this momentous year, there were 2,526,817 international arrivals, considering all ports of entry.
This represents a 4.1% increase over the previous year. Almost 70% of the international arrivals were by North Americans. 16.5% were from Europe and 6.9% were from South America.
