This weekend have fun waves on the Pacific side but on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica has some overhead sets rolling in if you want some big waves. FRIDAY: SSW/S swell mix maintains waist-chest high surf at well exposed spots while standouts see shoulder high sets.
WEATHER/WIND: Variable to locally light offshore wind for the early to mid mornings for most areas, before a light to moderate onshore sea-breeze gradually develops into each afternoon. Most of the region will see partly cloudy/sunny skies each day. However, there is still a chance for occasional passing thunderstorms/showers.
Friday 01/16 – 0.6-0.9m+ Knee to chest high occ. 1.2m – S/SSW swell eases; small NW swell at best exposures
Saturday 01/17 – 0.6-0.9m+ Knee to chest high – S/SSW swell eases; NW traces

Moderate mid period swell from the east-northeast holding during the next few days. Light and variable northeast winds with smooth seas, increasing rapidly later. Small mid period swell from the east-northeast falling slightly during the early part of next week. Light northeast winds with a slight chop later.
Friday 01/16 – 1.8-2.1m – Shoulder high to 0.5m overhead – Moderate mid period swell from the east-northeast holding during the day. Light and variable east-northeast winds with smooth seas, increasing rapidly later.
Saturday 01/17 – 1.8-2.1m – Shoulder high to 0.5m overhead – Small short period wind waves from the east-northeast holding during the day. Light north-northeast winds with a slight chop all day.
