Costa Rica Travel News – Costa Rica is known for its volcanoes, mountains, wildlife and eco-friendly tourism. If that sounds wonderful to you, you will surely love staying at Rio Coyote during your vacation.
Kim and Michael purchased the property in 2006 and transitioned the 5 acre coffee farm into a true organic oasis overlooking the splendor of the Poas Volcano. The home was built with natural materials and alternative, environmentally friendly methods. The support is made from bamboo and the walls are a mix of bamboo mesh and earth plaster. The dirt used was found on the property. In the effort to continue pursuing sustainability, the owners added solar power.
The home became popular when it was featured on the Costa Rica Morning Show. The natural beauty of the home, along with the cathedral ceilings, skylight, and comfy furniture, creates a warm effect that is hard to leave. You can easily spend your whole vacation soaking up that feeling of relaxation, sitting outside on the deck searching for rainbows and hummingbirds and making a fire in the firepit at night. If you want more adrenaline pumping action, there are tours and activities nearby as well.
They built a modern guest apartment next and now they are both available for short or long term rentals. The apartment has a sofa bed and loft, kitchenette and bathroom. There is a private patio and a garden that connects it with the bamboo farm house, which has two bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. Linens and towels are provided. You can use the outdoor washing machine upon request.
These homes, while enclosed in nature, are just 30 miles from the international airport and 45 minutes from San Jose. The homes are on a working coffee farm so you will have the very best cup of coffee and some fresh fruit in the morning. You can even buy some coffee to take home with you. The rich soil from the volcano creates a unique, smooth flavor. The beans are hand picked, dried and sorted, and slow roasted in small batches to bring forth the nutty taste. The farm uses shade grown organic farming techniques. They have planted tons of trees to bring hummingbirds and add to the soil’s richness.
While Kim and Michael now live in California, Jose Luis, the property’s caretaker, will be there to help if you need anything. He and his family are very friendly.
