Costa Rica News & Events – Happy 117th birthday to the National Theater of Costa Rica! In honor of this special anniversary, the theater will be hosting an all day party on October 26th.
For 14 hours, the celebration will go on.
It all starts at 8:30 am with a parade from the Bank of Costa Rica. It will feature a band, flags, student and the fire department. If any children want to participate they are welcome.
The parade ends at the theater, which opened in 1897, where a cake for 5,000 will be waiting.
A Big Band concert is next and will be performed outdoors at the Plaza de la Cultura at 11 am.
Later on, there will be childrens story readings in the theater and poetry readings in the theater’s cafe.
The event is free during the day and costs 10,000 colones to enter the evening gala featuring the Hispanic Quartet and the Philharmonic Orchestra.
