Costa Rica Entertainment News – This Friday at 7.30pm, in the Plaza Tempo shopping center in Escazú, the Vienna Boys’ Choir will be performing in a free concert as part of the 24th edition of the Credomatic Music Festival.
This concert is the only one that the Austrian group will be performing for free; tickets can be bought for their other performances in Punta Leona on Saturday, and in the Teatro Nacional on Sunday to close the Festival. Tickets to these performances range from ¢5,000 to ¢35,000.
According to the Credomatic Music Festival’s organizers, the concert is forming part of a program to promote the enjoyment of the best music from around the world.
The Austrians, directed by Oliver Stech, will perform a collection of classical pieces, European songs, music composed for film, some Latin American inspired compositions and music from the Strauss family.
In a press communication, the organisation stated that the Vienna Boys’ Choir would sing songs by Mozart, Mendelssohn and Richard Rogers. They’ll also be providing their own interpretations of the works of Guadalajara and Cielito Lindo.
The pieces and the styles of music that the Austrian group will be performing is said to differ from place to place, depending on the characteristics of the location. The full collection will be announced during each performance.
The children have a range of voices from soprano to alto. This is the third time that the group has performed in Costa Rica across its 500 year history.
The Credomatic Music Festival is coming to an end this Sunday. In addition to the Austrian group, a number of outstanding bands have also performed across the duration of the festival: Aspro Dolce, the Guitar Quartet from Oregon, the Chamber Orchestra of Fine Art from Mexico and Trío de No-Claret.
