Costa Rica Entertainment News – The sound of the jazz trio known as Maya will be playing Sunday at the Lagniappe House stage in Miami. Two Costa Ricans and a Canadian make up the group, and they are hoping to recreate this effervescent atmosphere for a brief tour of Costa Rica.
The two Costa Ricans in the trio are Kenneth Jiménez (double bass) and Rodolfo Zúñiga (drums). Canadian Derek Fairholm (piano) completes the group.
Maya has found the space to put their latest compositions, classical adaptations and some of their own sounds to the test.
“I’ve been living there for three years, and I’ve always dreamt of bringing over a band who works the same way that I do. The challenge is just recreating the atmosphere from our Miami concerts”, says Jiménez.
The performances will take place in El Sótano (Amón Solar) on Monday the 18th and Tuesday the 19th of August at 8.30pm on both nights. Entrance costs ¢2,500. They are also playing at the Conservatorio Musical de Alajuela on Thursday the 21st August at 7pm, with entrance fee costing ¢2,000.
Finally on Friday and Saturday night the 22nd and 23rd, they’ll be performing at Emilio’s Café in Manuel Antonio to bring a taste of their music to the beach.
