Costa Rica News – The 1st freshwater beach in Costa Rica at the Laguna del Arenal is currently on course to turn into a reality. The Chamber of Tourism in the Northern Zone (Catuzón) has now reached an understanding with the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) to build this landmark in the Arenal area.
The arrangement was actually achieved in the later part of the the past year and the project, that is designed to help tourism in this area will begin to take shape in late 2014.
The lake will be marketed internationally and locally for all aquatic functions in the region. There’ll be picnic places, docks, and pavilions available.
The investment cost will be approximately $3 million dollars.
Although it’s young in the planning stage, blueprints are being submitted to ICE for apprival in order to go to phase 2.
Funding will be from international groups and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs). The marketers associated with the undertaking need to be endorsed by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) and ICE.
“The idea is that by the end of this year and we are under construction. We have an income of 250 000 people per year to the lake and there is not even a health service,” said Leovigild Villegas, president of Catuzón.
This past September, Villegas additionally stated the brand new tourist attraction would help employment in the area. ”With a project of this level, we would have 20% more tourist arrivals in this area, which would equal 525,000 more people annually.”
