Costa Rica News – It seems that this Texas pimp picked the wring country to come to where prostitution is legal but pimping is not. Joshua Louis Edwards ran all the way to Costa Rica, but he could not hide from authorities.
This past Friday the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force revealed that they had caught Edwards and that he was locked up in Bexar County jail.
Edwards has been accused of aggravated promotion of prostitution for running a prostitution ring out of a business front known as the Black Stone Relaxation/Day Spa in 2012.
Respective authorities state this individual managed advertisements on the web for that operation, however surrounding businesses noticed that something wrong was happening in his locale.
“This particular area where they were prostituting was next to a child’s day care, next to a magic shop, next to a children’s hair salon and it was the tenants of those stores who started paying attention,” said Assistant District Attorney Krista Melton. “It was because of the community’s efforts and the community watching and being aware what’s going on in the area this case came forward to law enforcement in the first place.”
U.S. Attorney Robert Almonte mentioned Edwards tried to run to Costa Rica, but was not able to outrun the law that was chasing him.
“When someone thinks they can commit a crime here and leave San Antonio or leave the state of Texas or even leave the country, and they think they’re going to get away with it, they’ve got another thing coming and I think this is an example of that. They can run, but they can’t hide,” Almonte said.
Edwards can be sentenced to up to twenty years in prison for the accused prostitution charge, and for failing to appear to face that accusation.
