Costa Rica Business News – If you are looking for buying things in bulk and getting discounts for buying 20 rolls of toilet paper at once, your options for PriceSmart stores just went up by one. The sixth PriceSmart opened Friday in Cartago.
This is the 18th store in Central America required an investment of $ 20 million.
The new store is a massive 21,000 square meters, which makes it much larger than the previously built stores in Zapote, Escazú, Heredia, Alajuela and Llorente.
“We have 13 years being open for business in the country and we have been growing steadily. We have a very loyal membership base,” said Manrique Ugalde, vice president of business operations.
The location in Cartago has two levels and parking for 320 vehicles. It also generates 130 direct jobs in the area of Tres Rios, Cartago and Curridabat. In Csota Rica, PriceSmart has about 1,200 employees.
The company operates throughout Central America and the Caribbean. According to the company, they are currently serving a million members in the area.
