A dengue outbreak is sweeping the Sarapiquí canton, where the number of infected people has gone from 50 to 138 in four weeks. In this group, seven patients are currently hospitalized at the Hospital San Vicente de Paul Heredia.
This was announced by Head of the Department of Health of the canton, Emilio Araya, who explained that the most affected districts are Christ the King, and The Guaria Chilamate.

He added that they will coordinate with the City of Sarapiqui, including local authorities, to strengthen the prevention of infections.
By June 9, when the last report, the Ministry of Health recorded a total of 1,726 cases of dengue across the country.
The most affected region is the province of Limón, which accounts for 63% of the total infected.
In fact, county records Limon Guácimo 1has had 1,048 cases of the 1,726 this year.
On cases of DHF, Health records only three were affected, from January to date.
